The seventh general convention of the Confederation of Nepalese Professionals (CONEP) is taking place in Lalitpur on April 6. CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the two-day convention.
Around 900 representatives from its different bodies across the country will take part in the convention, said CONEP national committee coordinator Baburam Thapa. The general convention will elect a new leadership and unveil future programmes, action plans and policies after discussing the problems of professionals caused by the country's weak economy, he added.
Established on 19 March 1996, the CONEP close to the socialist ideology has a total of 26 national organisations, 52 chapters, eight province committees, 77 district committees and 753 local level committees. It has approximately 600,000 members across the country.
