The bus that met with an accident this morning on its way to Pokhara from Kathmandu was due to over speeding, according to the preliminary investigation.

Superintendent of Police at the District Police office, Dhading, Gautam Mishra, said the bus might have plunged in Trishuli river while overtaking another bus or trying to avoid a pothole.

There is a waterfall and a small bridge without railing near the incident site and there are around two-meter long potholes on the road near the bridge. Bridge and waterfall have made difficulties in two-way vehicular movement at the place.

Gautam shared, "The bus might have met with an accident either overtaking another bus or avoiding the pothole. The accident took place due to road conditions as well as weakness of the driver."

The bus heading towards Beni of Myagdi from Kathmandu via Pokhara plunged into the Trishuli river at Gajuri-2 of Dhading on Wednesday morning.

Eight people were killed and 17 were injured in the accident.
