An avalanche took place at the Dhaulagiri range in Mustang at Mana Pathi hill today.
Eight students, including a teacher of Jana Adarsha Secondary School, were injured when they fled after seeing an avalanche coming from Dhaulagiri peak. The house of Ratna Devi Tulachan has been destroyed.
The avalanche took place in upper thapla of Thasang Rural Municipality, ward number 2 connected with Mustang district headquarters at 11:40 am today.
As soon as the avalanche took place, a total of 20 people including Mustang Chief District Officer and a team of Armed Police Force and Nepal Police left to the incident site, said DSP Ram Kumar Dani.
A total of 11 persons were hurt after falling while fleeing to avoid being hit by the avalanche, added DSP Kami.
The current situation in the area is normal, informed Dani. The avalanche's snow is melting as of now.
It has been predicted that lots of yaks have been buried in the avalanche, DSP Dani further said.
The police and dispatched team have alerted the people not to go near the avalanche area, added DSP Dani.
The incident site is almost 25 KM from District Headquarter Jomsom. To reach the site, one should drive to Kobang from Jomsom, and from there one has to walk almost 2 hours to reach the avalanche site, DSP Dani explained.
