Equal participation of women in every sector demanded

Equal participation of women's has been demanded in State's every organs.

Taking part in an interaction programme on ' abuse and violence against girls and adolescents' organised by the National Women Commission here today, the participants called for a meaningful presence of women's in the policy-making and implementation-level of the State's each bodies.

Niru Devi Pal, President of Women and Social Committee, Federal Parliament, echoed the need of women having their leading roles in each and every levels of judiciary, executive and legislation.

 Talking about the fact of political and sometimes institutional protection on the accused/ perpetrators in the cases of violence against women, she spoke the need of having women in the law enforcement bodies.

The parliamentary committee president also urged the three-tier government to organise a collective campaign to increase public awareness against women violence and combat it.

Mamata Bista, under-secretary at the Minister of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, pointed out the absence of coordination among the three-tier government in regard with minimizing and preventing the cases of women violence

Commission Chairwoman Kamala Parajuli said the Commission was doing its best in terms of serving justice to survivors of women violence.

She reminded that the Nepal's Constitution aims to build an equitable society being based on the principle of inclusion and proportional participation by eliminating all sorts of gender-based violence.

The Article 38 of the Constitution which is about the Right of Women guarantees that there shall not be any kinds of violence against women and women shall have the right to access participate in all state structures and bodies on the basis of the principle of proportional inclusion.

The NWC functioning as the constitutional body has the responsibility to bringing such rights of women into practice.
