Five shops have been damaged in a fire that broke out in the tourist city of Pokhara this morning.
The fire started from a shop at Foottrack on the Fewa lakeside in the morning and burnt down five nearby shops. According to Chinimaya Tamang, Chief of the Ward Police Office, Baidam, and Deputy Superintendent of Police, the fire damaged restaurants, canteens, and juice centers. Police said that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained and further investigation is underway. Police, Nepal Army, and locals brought the fire under control with help of the fire brigade.
Stating that the damage worth Rs 15 million was caused in the preliminary investigation, she said, "Work is underway to assess the damage caused by the fire." We are investigating whether the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit or other reasons.”
