Vice-President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has said that foreign assistance was important for Nepal that, he said, was embarking on the journey of economic prosperity.
Addressing the 16th annual general assembly of the Honorary Consular Corps- Nepal (HCC-N) on Sunday, Vice-President Yadav urged the office-bearers of the Corps to garner foreign assistance for the country's economic development.
Stating that it was necessary to maintain cordial and peaceful relations with the countries having friendly ties with Nepal, Yadav underscored the need for Nepal to further strengthen economic, trade and cultural relations with the friendly countries that had established diplomatic ties with Nepal but did not have their residential embassies.
On the occasion, the Vice-President expressed his happiness over the Crops' positive roles in promotion of the country's trade and tourism.
He expressed that the Corps would actively work towards promoting affinity between the people of Nepal and those countries having diplomatic relations with Nepal.
According to him, the Corps had an important role in bringing in people from those countries to Nepal as tourists thereby attracting foreign investment and contributing to the economic development of the country.
He was of the view that the Crops should be focused on taking initiatives with the concerned nations for climate action to minimize the climate change-induced risks.
Similarly, Minister for Foreign Affairs NP Saud called for assistance from the friendly countries for Nepal's economic development.
Present in the event were Heads of the Foreign Diplomatic Missions based in Nepal, Counsel General of various countries and staffers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others.
