Chief of Gandaki Province, Sita Kumari Poudel, has called on the provincial lawmakers to make a claim for the post of chief minister by June 12. The call to make a claim for the post has been made as Prithvi Subba Gurung who had been appointed as chief minister of the province as per Article 168 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal on May 12 could not win the vote of confidence in the National Assembly as per Article 168 (4) of the Constitution on Thursday.
Chandi Prasad Aryal, Spokesperson at the Office of the Province Chief, informed that after the National Assembly forwarded a letter notifying the province chief about Gurung losing the vote of confidence the call to claim the post of chief minister was made as per Article 168 (5).
Province Chief Poudel has asked the lawmakers to make the claim for the chief minister’s post as per Article 168 (2) in a manner that they can win the vote of confidence during the meeting of the National Assembly that is to be held at 3 pm on Saturday (June 12).
The statement issued by the provincial chief’s office also mentions that until the next government is formed the current council of ministers will handle the responsibilities as per Article 169 (3) of the Constitution.
