Ghimire's lead in the presidency of the bar remains

In the counting of votes for the election of the 26th Central Working Committee of the Nepal Bar Association Chairman Gopal Krishna Ghimire has maintained the lead on behalf of the Comprehensive Democratic Progressive Inclusive and Professional Law Practitioners Group.

So far, he has received 1,990 votes out of 3,203 votes counted from 25 centers while Bishnumani Adhikari, Chairperson of the Progressive and Professional Law Practitioners Group, polled 1,004 votes.

According to Senior Advocate Usha Malla Pathak, Chief Election Superintendent of Nepal Bar Association, 2078 BS, the counting of votes has been completed in 25 centers so far. Counting was taking place in six places. Preparations are underway to count the votes in eight places from today.

The group led by Ghimire has the lead in the counting of votes so far. Anjita Khanal has 1,765 votes for the post of General Secretary while her rival Kedar Prasad Koirala has 1,157 votes. Treasurer Bharat Bahadur Raut got 1,928 votes and his rival Jagat Bahadur Karki got 1,066 votes.

The counting of votes had started on Tuesday morning. The counting will restart at 9 am today. Chief Election Officer Pathak informed that preparations are being made for the results to be out by Friday.

Voting was held peacefully from 35 places across the country, including the Kathmandu Center, on April 3 this year. There were 9,708 voters in the election for the 25-member working committee including 11 office bearers and members and the chairperson. Out of them, 7,429 votes were cast.
