Groundbreaking of Buddhigandaki Hydel soon

 Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' assured that the foundation stone for the Budhigandaki Hydro Power Project would be laid very soon by addressing the demands of the locals.

In a meeting with a delegation led by Gandaki rural municipality chairperson, Deepak Timilsina, at the official residence of Prime Minister at Baluwatar, Kathmandu today, PM Dahal reiterated to accelerate the Project stating it was a national pride project.

The proposed storage type project aims to generate 1,200 megawatt of electricity and it lies in Dhading and Gorkha district.

The field office of the Project was inaugurated on July 19 this year.

Prime Minister Dahal, during the meeting, pledged to address the compensation related issues raised by the project-affected locals and take forward the mega project by taking them into confidence, shared Gandaki rural municipality chairperson, Timilsina.

Furthermore, construction of bridge at Dhaubadighat in Gorkha would be expedited at the earliest, the Prime Minister vowed, promising to initiate maintenance of a suspension bridge damaged by the flood in Trishuli River, according to Timilsina.

The flood has also damaged the Hikulangghat-based suspension bridge that connects Gandaki rural municipality of Gorkha to the Rorang rural municipality in Dhadhing. On the occasion, significant discussions were held with the Prime Minister regarding the restoration of the bridge and other development projects in the district.

Similarly, the CPN (Maoist Centre) leaders in the Sudur Paschim province held a meeting with the Prime Minister today.

During the meeting, the delegation drew the attention of the head of the government towards the urgency to address damages caused by monsoon floods and landslides in the province and to restore the Bhimdutta Highway. Likewise, the meeting focused on operating the Daiji Jogbudhi road.

Amidst the discussions, the Prime Minister telephoned secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management, Keshab Kumar Sharma, directing the latter to ensure an atmosphere for restoring the Bhimdutta Highway and operating the Daiji Jogbudha road, according to Sudur Pashim Province Assembly member, Om Bikram Bhat.

 The Prime Minister also directed to undertake relief and rescue efforts targeting the flood-affected areas in Sudur Paschim. ---
