Home Minister on airport monitoring

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has monitored the airport management and baggage clearance process today along with the heads of all agencies related to the security and management of Tribhuvan International Airport. He has meticulously monitored the process from the landing of the aircraft to the entry of passengers and crew, their hand bags and cargo clearance.

High officials including the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Police, National Investigation Department, Revenue Investigation Department, Immigration Department and heads of offices including Tribhuvan International Airport went for monitoring along with the Home Minister.

Two days ago, the gold that entered through the airport was recovered by the team of the Revenue Investigation Department while it was leaving the customs. The incident exposed the flaws in airport management, security, export and customs procedures.

In a brief speech after the inspection, Home Minister Shrestha said that airport-related agencies should work in a coordinated and integrated manner rather than showing each other's weaknesses. International airport is our identity from the point of view of national sovereignty and national security. He said- 'All those responsible should be strict against the crime and revenue evasion by using this. But you should be polite to passengers and tourists.'

Home Minister Shrestha believed that the current government is in favor of good governance, qualitative economic social development and administrative reforms, Prime Minister Prachanda has accelerated work in the same spirit and the investigation committee on gold smuggling will get to the bottom of it and suggest action and solutions.
