The death toll from floods and landslides in the far-western states, including Baitadi, has risen. Thirty-five people have so far died in the state due to natural disasters caused by incessant rains since September 16.
Floods have caused the most damage in the far west. At least 16 people have been killed in Doti district. According to the Far-Western Provincial Police Office, 10 died in Bajhang, 4 in Baitadi, 3 in Dadeldhura, 1 each in Achham and Kailali.
As many as 23 people are still missing in the state due to the disaster. There are 20 missing persons in Bajhang and 1 each in Baitadi, Doti and Kailali. 17 people have been injured in the incident, 11 in Doti, 2 in Dadeldhura, 2 in Baitadi and 1 each in Bajhang and Bajur. In Bajura, Doti, Dadeldhura, Bajhang and other districts, more than 100 animals have died and more than 60 are missing. The landslide completely damaged 12 houses in Bajhang, six in Doti and two in Dadeldhura. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have rescued 430 people out of 216 houses inundated due to the floods.
