KATHMANDU: In the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) and China's Beijing Language and Culture University have signed an agreement on collaboration.
LBU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Subarna Lal Bajracharya and BLCU Chairman Daun Peng exchanged a memorandum of Understanding to that connection amidst a programme organized at Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar here today.
The MoU states that the two universities will collaborate in cultural exchanges, language teaching and research activities. Similarly, a Nepal Institute will be established in Beijing and China Institute in Lumbini.
It may be recalled here that a MoU on Volunteer Chinese Language Teachers was signed during Prime Minister Oli's official visit to China from December 2-5.
On the occasion of the signing of the agreement today, PM and Chancellor of LBU Oli expressed his pleasure on the expansion of academic and educational relations and collaboration between the two countries, stating that Nepal and China have ties extending to the people's level for centuries.
Also present on the occasion were National Planning Commission (NPC) member Gita Kumari Poudyal Adhikari, LBU Registrar Dr Tilakram Acharya and officials of the Embassy of China in Kathmandu, among others.
