Maldhunga-Balewa; section of Kaligandaki corridor to be blackened

The Baglung section of the Kaligandaki Corridor, a project of national pride, is going to be blackened.

 The road will be blacktopped as soon as the Ministry of Finance has secured the budget for blacktop of 10 km road section of Maldhunga-Balewa section under Baglung section of Kaligandaki Corridor. The Maldhunga-Takuri-Palungkhola 38 km road under Baglung section has been handed over to the Road Department.

  According to Sushila Devi Bhat, Branch Officer at the Ministry of Finance, has already sent a letter to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport for the multi-year contract process after securing budget for the road from Maldhunga to Balewa Airport.

The budget has been allocated for the road blacktop in the last two years after it was handed over to the Road Department. The 10 km road from Maldhunga to Balewa Airport under the corridor was made 10 meters wide and handed over to the department on December 17, 2019. The work of widening 28 km road from Balewa Airport to Palungkhola of Baglung section, which was delayed due to corona, was completed by the Nepal Army and handed over to the department last June.

 The Ministry of Finance has released the budget after the citizens started complaining and criticizing the delay in blackening. The work of the corridor, which will be established as a trilateral link with India and China, which is the destiny of Nepal, is expected to move forward.

 Federal MP from Baglung Constituency No. 1, Dr. Surya Pathak, said that it was a matter of happiness for Baglung to go through the contract process for the road blacktop despite the budget confirmation.

 The Kaligandaki Corridor is a trilateral road. It will connect neighboring India and China.

The army has been working on the section from Maldhunga to Ridi of Gulmi since 2070 BS and handed it over to the Road Department.
