Man arrested for demanding ransom of Rs 1.5 million in Bara

Police in Bara district on Wednesday arrested a man on charge of demanding Rs 1.5 million from Nabin Kumar Srivastav, a chief administrative officer of Subarna Rural Municipality.

The accused has been identified as Mukesh Prasad Yadav (28), a local resident of the same rural municipality in the district. Yadav also works as an office assistant on a contract basis in the same rural municipality office.

Yadav allegedly asked for the ransom through calls and messages and threatened that if the ransom amount was not delivered within one hour then he would shoot Srivastav. Acting on a tip-off through the audio clip of the calls, the Bara-based District Police Office (DPO) nabbed him.

Further investigation into the matter is underway, informed DPO, Bara.
