Police in Bara district on Thursday afternoon arrested a thief who had been absconding after 12 years from Bishrampur Rural Municipality-5.
The accused has been identified as Pannalal Mahato Dhanuk, a 40-year-old resident of the same municipality in Bara district.
According to police, Dhanuk had been on the run since the Bara District Court convicted him of theft and fined him Rs 64,500 along with the sentence of six years in prison, on December 1, 2009.
Security personnel deployed from the Bara-based District Police Office (DPO) located him in his hideout and nabbed him.
Meanwhile, Bara District Court has sent him to Birgunj-based prison where he will serve his sentence, informed DPO, Bara.
