The production of mid-Modi hydropower project that was constructed in Parbat was successfully tested.

The 18-MW hydro project, constructed by the Middle Modi Hydropower Limited, has undertaken test production after eight years. The hydropower project is making preparation to go for commercial production after successful test production, shared project chief Praveen Desar.

The project construction had begun in December 2014. "The construction was initiated in a way to complete the construction in three years. The construction time was elongated to five years due to several challenges in course of the construction", he noted.

The water flowing through Annapurna rural municipality-3, Birethanti of Kaski and nearby Modi rural municipality-1, Bhurungdanda of Parbat has been channelized to Modi rural municipality-2, Samadi of Parbat for the project purpose. Water has been brought through a tunnel with the length of 2,840 meters and is being flown to the Modi River through 70-meter long terrace.

As per the agreement, the Nepal Electricity Authority has constructed a four-kilometer-long transmission line from power house site to Deupur before the project construction completed.

According to Electricity Authority Parbat Distribution Centre, Shiva Narayan Goshali, the time period of 15-day after the completion of test production was kept as trial phase.

The power to be generated from Mid-Modi hydropower project would be integrated to the national transmission line after installing it to the 132-KV line.

The project cost has reached Rs 4.92 billion. Its estimated time was protracted due to recurring protests by project employees and citizens of the affected zone and natural calamities.
