MoHP records 3,175 new COVID cases, 14 deaths on Thursday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Thursday confirmed the detection of 3,175 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 962,517. Additionally, 433 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.

Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 14 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Thursday , the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,778. Presently, there are 63,296 active cases in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 1,509 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 1,249 cases, Lalitpur logged 183 cases and Bhaktapur logged 77 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.

As many as 8,723 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday , a total of 887,443 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 92.2 percent while the fatality rate is 1.3 percent.

Earlier, the MoHP on Wednesday confirmed the detection of 3,637 new cases of coronavirus infection.

As of Thursday, a total of 5,257,175 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 61,862 people staying in isolation while 138 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

385,375,737 people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5,719,051 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in 2019-December, COVID-19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters. It has been reported that COVID-19 infections are still rising in 132 countries where The United States is the new hotspot of COVID-19 facing a daily surge of rapid infections.
