The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Monday confirmed the detection of 367 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 817,333. Additionally, 49 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded one death from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Monday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,478. Presently, there are 7,311 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 187 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 126 cases, Lalitpur logged 43 cases and Bhaktapur logged 18 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 270 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Monday, a total of 798,544 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 97.7 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.
Earlier, the MoHP Sunday had reported 291 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 816,966.
As of Monday, a total of 4,514,075 people have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 7,311 people staying in isolation while 98 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
Meanwhile, 2,978,477 people have been administered the first dose of Covishield vaccines and 1,725,003 have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 5,897,830 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 4,311,633 others have received the second dose as of November 15, 2021, the Ministry's data showed. Similarly, a total of 1,543,497 persons — 199,665 in Province 1; 362,363 in Province 2; 380,969 in Bagmati Province; 129,322 in Gandaki Province; 254,074 in Lumbini Province, 77,125 in Karnali Province, and 139,979 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines.
