NHRC monitors bodies working on senior citizen's rights: Chair Magar

Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tap Bahadur Thapamagar, has said NHRC was monitoring the agencies working in the sector of senior citizens' rights.

Chairman Magar said it during a programme organized jointly by the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen, and the National Senior Citizen's Federation in the capital city on Monday.

"NHRC has been preparing a study report on how effectively the senior citizens were receiving State entitlements. The violation of senior citizens' rights is also observed closely, he informed.

Secretary at the ministry, Dilliram Sharma, viewed, "Ministry was committed to protect and promote the rights of senior citizen with utmost coordination and cooperation.

On the occasion of the 2nd Senior Citizens' Day, senior citizen Dr Gauri Shankarlal Das was felicitated. Das is the former chairman and advisor to the National Senior Citizen's Federation.
