The National Women Commission (NWC) will take initiative for bringing those responsible for the acid attack against one Dipika Bishwakarma under the purview of the law.

The NWC team led by its member Bidya Kumari Sinha Wednesday visited BK who is receiving treatment at Kirtipur-based Burn Hospital and took her health updates. The NWC said it has decided to provide necessary monetary assistance to the survivor from the Gender-based Violence Elimination Fund.

During the meeting, the survivor demanded strict action against her husband, the accused in the crime. The 34-year-old BK, a resident of Chandrapur municipality-4, in Rautahat said it was her spouse who threw acid on her on June 12 with the intention of murdering her over a dispute.

The accused runs a gold and silver jewellery shop at Chandrapur-4 and it is believed that he brought the acid from his shop.

The NWC team also took health updates of one Laxmi Bhatt from Doti who is under medical care at the hospital for serious burn injuries she suffered after her spouse set her on fire by sprinkling kerosene over her body some time ago.
