Permission to detain Sandeep for 5 more days

Sandeep Lamichhane, who is in police custody on charges of rape, has been allowed to be detained for 5 more days by the District Court, Kathmandu.

Lamichhane, who was arrested on 8 October, was brought to court on 11th by the police. The court initially allowed 7 days of detention.

On Thursday, the police asked for permission to detain Sandeep again for 7 days, saying that investigation is going on. "7 days is too much when we are half done with the process of giving statements. We said that only three days should be given", Sandeep's lawyer Sarojkrishna Ghimire said, 'Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa's bench has extended the deadline by 5 days.'

Ghimire said that he wanted the case to be registered on October 18 after the statement was completed during this period.
