PM Dahal's India visit to foster harmony between Nepal-India

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said his India visit beginning (Wednesday) would focus on fostering harmony between the two countries.

Addressing a reception organized by Nepali Embassy in India in his honor here Wednesday, PM Dahal shared that the visit would cultivate mutual trust and welfare. It would be in favor of Nepal and Nepalis.

He viewed that he embarked on the official visit to India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, adding that discussion would be held on various issues of bilateral interest and welfare in the course of the visit.

Reiterating the age-old and people-to-people level relations between Nepal and India, Prime Minister expressed the belief that this visit would take the friendly relations between the two countries to a new height.

PM Dahal expressed happiness, saying Nepalis residing in India for various purposes including study and employment are themselves the goodwill ambassadors. He urged them to utilize their skills and knowledge gained in India for the country's prosperity.

The Nepal government is effortful to grant voting rights to Nepalis living out of the country, the PM shared.

PM Dahal further informed that the government had recently incorporated those people, who are in foreign employment, in the social security scheme and urged the Nepalis living in India to take benefit from it.

The national economy dented by COVID-19 is gradually restored with the formation of the present government, according to PM Dahal. The government is committed to economic development and its result will be seen soon, he hoped.

Elimination of corruption and pro-people service are other priorities, he reminded. The PM further informed that Nepal has entered a new stage of a democratic system with the election of three tiers of government.

PM Dahal arrived in New Delhi, leading a Nepali delegation, on Wednesday. He is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart on Thursday. It is said agreements will be made on some significant issues between the two countries.

The meeting agenda includes energy, trade, commerce, and mutual interests.

PM Dahal is on a four-day official visit to India.
