President Bidyadevi Bhandari has stated that the Tamu Lhosar festival would enhance the spirit of mutual harmony, tolerance and brotherhood among all Nepalis and help in further strengthening the greater national unity.
Giving messages of good wishes on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar festival today, she wished that this festival would inspire all Nepalis to take lead in building a civilized, cultured and progressive society by spreading enthusiasm and zeal.
The President also wished for happiness, peace, good health and longevity to all the Nepali citizens living at home and abroad.
"The role played by the Gurung community in building an economically and socially prosperous country through tourism promotion while preserving and promoting the country's authentic cultural heritage is commendable," the message said.
The Gurung community celebrates Tamu Lhosar festival by welcoming the new year. It is celebrated in various districts in hilly and mountainous regions with a few in Terai where the majority of the Gurung community lives.
