The mystery has unfolded in the Sankhuwasabha murder case as police personnel have intensified the investigation after taking five suspects in the custody.
Police investigation shows that the murder plan had been plotted just a day before, according to police. Tej Bahadur was supposed to visit Lok Bahadur’s house in the early morning for calling them to work on his farm, according to police. Police also said that the five arrestees had agreed to execute the murder plan in such a way that if the murder culprits have to be landed in the police net or jailed, it would only be Lok Bahadur. It has been reported that 26-year-old Lok Bahadur, a nephew of murder victim Tej Bahadur, had been taking medicines to control mental disorders.
Although it was reported that Tej Bahadur Karki, the main victim, was struck to death with a log, the ongoing investigation being carried out by the security personnel shows that he was stabbed to death with knives after he was about to run away in injured condition, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhim Dahal, one of the members of the investigation team. All five taken into police custody were allegedly involved in stabbing Tej Bahadur to death.
On September 6, six members of a Tej Bahadur’s family were killed in Khola village of Umling in Madi Municipality-1.
Sankhuwasabha District Police Office (DPO), in a press conference organised on September 20, said Khadga Bahadur Karki (47) was the mastermind behind the murder. On September 12, police had made public Lok Bahadur Karki, a nephew of one of the victims Tej Bahadur, as a prime suspect. Lok Bahadur on September 11 had confessed to police that he had committed the crime that took place on September 6.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Laldhwaj Subedi at DPO told NepalNews that a total of five persons have been detained in connection to the brutal murder.
On September 20, police made public the mastermind behind the murder and three others including Naresh Karki (17) — a younger brother of Lok Bahadur Karki — who was arrested on September 17 after police personnel seized a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims Ranjana, from his possession. Two other arrested in connection to the murder have been identified as Hasta Bahadur Karki (28), Rana Bahadur Karki (49).
