The Election Commission of Nepal is observing the 5th Election Day by organising a variety of programmes here today.
The day is observed since 2073 BS, in commemoration of the first general elections held in the country on Falgun 7 of 2015 BS.
In a message on the occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has appealed to all the voters to take part in the forthcoming elections to the House of Representatives. He has also shared that the preparations for the elections have reached the final phase while emphasising that the elections should be guided by principles and ideologies instead of resources, power and wealth.
Stating that the forthcoming elections would be held on the dates announced by the government, the ECN has expressed hope for the participation, cooperation and collaboration of government, political parties, public sector, media, civil society and the voters in building a political atmosphere for holding the upcoming elections with the full participation of the people.
