Maoist Center's central committee meeting kicks off

A meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center)'s central committee has kicked off here at the Nepal Academy building.

The agenda of the meeting is giving a complete shape to the central committee and the nomination of party's office-bearers, the politburo and the standing committee with the allocation of responsibilities, party Central Office's Secretary Shreeram Dhakal said. Similarly, the central committee will make a review of the local level election held on May 13 and discuss its future course of action.

The Maoist Center, which convened its Eighth General Convention in December 2021, has not picked its other office-bearers except the Chairperson so far. The general convention had elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' to the post of party's central chairperson. However, it had not elected the other office-bearers.

The general convention had made provision for the Chairperson, the Senior Vice Chairperson, the General Secretary, the Deputy General Secretary, the Secretary and the Treasurer towards the party's office-bearers and for a 299-member Central Committee.

The meeting of the central committee which has been postponed from time to time after the general convention will also deliberate on the party's organizational activities, the latest political situation in the country and the preparations for the upcoming federal and province assembly elections.

Chair Dahal is scheduled to brief the meeting on the latest political situation, Dhakal said.
