CAN Federation has been organising CAN InfoTech since 1995. The federation held the 26th edition of the event in 2019. However, the federation was not able to organise nine such events in all the seven provinces as planned and was able to hold only seven InfoTech events in five provinces.
As per the Computer Association Nepal (CAN) Federation, it will be organising the ‘CAN InfoTech 2021’ on May 10-16 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
The InfoTech is an annual expo on Nepal's information, technology and entertainment and is one of the biggest trade shows held in Nepal. The 27th edition of the event will be held over six days this year.
According to CAN Federation, they were unsure whether they would be able to hold the event this year due to the request made by the three chief district officers of Kathmandu valley and the security agencies not to hold events where large crowds would assemble. Due to the fear that the coronavirus pandemic could spread rapidly through mass gatherings the concerned authorities have been discouraging big events.
However, after much planning and discussions with related authorities CAN Federation has been finally able to get a go-ahead for the expo.
The federation believes that CAN InfoTech will help everybody related to and interested in the Information and Communication Technology sector. Moreover, a lot more people have started using ICT tools due to the various restrictions and lockdowns imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the federation is sure that the event this year will be able to attract more numbers of visitors.
