The players participating in the Ninth National Games has been tested for doping for the first time. "The collection of doping samples started after the official inauguration of the games," anti-doping test sub-committee secretary Dr Gyanendra Shah informed.
'Now we have taken a random sample of 40 players,' said Shah.
According to Shah, such a large number of anti-doping tests have been conducted for the first time in the history of National Games. "This is also a very sensitive subject. We have sent the collected samples to Qatar. It takes some time to get the results," said Shah.
11 teams including 3 departmental, 1 NRNA and 7 provincial teams are participating in the 9th National Games. Around 7000 athletes participated in 36 competitions under it.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will conclude the 9th National Games inaugurated by Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun at Pokhara Stadium.
