The FIFA World Cup football tournament is starting today. On the first day of the tournament, the first match between the hosts Qatar and Ecuador in Group A is scheduled to take place. Apart from the 90-minute match on the first day, an opening ceremony with the participation of various artists is also being organized. The opening ceremony will be held at Al Bayt Stadium where the football match will take place. The capacity of the stadium is 60,000 spectators. The opening ceremony starts 2 hours before the football match between Qatar and Ecuador.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 7:15 PM according to Nepali time.

The World Cup will be held in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022. There are 32 different countries in the final competition. This is the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world. This is the second World Cup to be held entirely in Asia after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan. 64 matches will be played in 8 venues across 5 cities. France is the defending champions, having defeated Croatia 4–2 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup final.

Because of Qatar's intense summer heat and humidity, this World Cup will be held in the holiday season, being the first tournament not held in May, June, or July and to take place in the northern winter. It will be played in a reduced timeframe of 29 days.
