Gunaraj Ruchal trains to be Muay Thai world champion

Muay Thai player Gunaraj Ruchal is practicing to become a world champion in Muay Thai within the year 2023. He has played in 6 world championships so far. This year itself, he participated in 3 world championships. He previously won a bronze medal in the World Muay Thai Championship held in Thailand. 

He was also awarded as Nepal's best Muay Thai player in the years 2016, 2018, and 2022.

Ruchal, who used to play karate, began playing Muay Thai in 2015. He also participated in the national championship competition in Nepal.

He defeated Italian players in Thailand in the year 2019, and a Myanmar player in 2022. He has won various international professional Muay Thai competitions, including the Indo Championship 4 times.


After passing his SLC exam, Ruchal completed the Community Medical Assistant CMA studies. His life took a turn after taking karate training. His game continued to progress after joining the Nepali Army.


The sport of Muay Thai, also known as Thai Boxing, is very risky. Players are often seriously injured during their practice. Gunaraj Ruchal also broke his hand twice during matches. He was also infected with TB and had water in his lungs.


His parents are aware of the risks of the sport. They are awaiting the time when their son will stop playing and become a coach.
