National women's beach volleyball tournament begins

Six games of the national women's volleyball tournament have been played at the Ranimahal premises on Thursday. Inaugurating the tournament, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Damodar Regmi said that Ranimahal could be made the capital of beach volleyball.

Secretary Regmi said that a volleyball hub could be set up in the Ranimahal area which has good potential for sports. Speaking on the occasion, Tansen Municipality Chief Ashok Kumar Shahi said that tourists could be attracted through sports.

The winner of the women's volleyball tournament will get Rs 100,000 and the runner-up will get Rs 50,000. Chairman of the Tiger Group of Pokhara Narayan Prasad Sharma announced a cash prize of Rs 30,000 for the third place winner.

There will be four games today. International volleyball referee Gautam Prasad Lasiwa said that four quarter finals will be played. The first match will be between APF and Lumbini. The second quarter final will be between Far West and Bagmati while the third will be between Nepal Police Club and Karnali. The fourth game will be played between Gandaki and Province No. 1, said Niroj Maske, President of Sanjay Smriti Pratisthan.
