Nepal T20 Cricket: Lumbini's victory

In the first edition of the Nepal T20 Cricket League held in the capital, Lumbini All-Star defeated Far West United and won.

Lumbini defeated Far West by nine runs in Super Over in today's match at Tribhuwan Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. With this win, Lumbini has registered its fourth consecutive win in the tournament. Lumbini is at the top of the points table with eight points from four matches.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Far West scored 137 runs after losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Lumbini, who entered the field with a winning target of 138 runs, scored 137 runs after losing nine wickets in 20 overs, and the match reached the super over.

Batting first in the Super Over, Lumbini scored 19 runs. Lumbini's Lahiru Milantha scored 15 runs and Sadle van Schalkwek scored three runs. Lumbini got one extra run.

Far West, who went into bat with a target of twenty runs, was reduced to 10 runs. Far West's Hasmatullah Shahidi scored eight runs while Vinod Bhandari scored two runs. Before that, Lumbini's Gulshan Jha scored the highest unbeaten 36 runs in a 20-over match. He hit three fours and one six off 24 balls. Similarly, Lahiru Milantha added 34 runs and Vipul Sharma added 31 runs.

Far West's Karan KC and Sher Mall took two wickets each while Rashid Khan, Umair Ali Hasmatullah Shahidi, and Bhuvan Karki took one wicket each.

On the other hand, Dev Khanal scored the highest 48 runs for Far West. He scored 48 runs in 42 balls with five fours. Captain Hasmatullah Shahidi scored 32, Bhim Sarki scored 15, Karan KC scored 12 and Hasim Ansari and Vinod Bhandari scored 11/11 runs.

Lumbini's Sadle van Schalkwek took two wickets while Harmit Singh, Kishore Mahato, and Sagar Dhakal took one wicket each.

The winner of the competition will receive a prize of Rs 55 lakh and the runner-up will receive a prize of Rs 30 lakh. Similarly, the third place will get Rs 10 lakh and the fourth place will get Rs 5 lakh. Six different teams are participating in the competition.
