Premier League and European Champions Manchester City announced they have extended contract with Bernardo Silva until June 2026 after the Portuguese midfielder declined offers from FC Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain.
The 29-year-old moved to City from Monaco in 2017. Over his tenure, he notched 55 goals in 308 appearances, contributing to the team's victories in five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and a Champions League trophy.
"I've had six incredible years at Manchester City and I'm delighted to extend my time here," Silva remarked.
"Winning the treble last season was extremely special and it's exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion. I love the manager (Pep Guardiola), my teammates, and the fans, and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years," he continued.
Manchester City's Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, expressed his enthusiasm over the news, identifying Silva as "one of the best players in the world."
"Bernardo has been exceptional during his time at the Etihad, so we're delighted that he has signed a contract extension with the club. His quality and technical ability is fantastic - and alongside his hard work and professionalism, he has become one of the best players in the world," stated Begiristain.
In related news, central defender Aymeric Laporte has departed for Saudi Arabia, poised to finalize his transfer to Al-Nassr
