Heavy snowfall last Thursday and Friday have disrupted air services in Simikot. There is a thick blanket of snow at the airport. Simikot Airport has stated that the snow has started to clear from Saturday as the weather improved. The only airport in the district has been closed for four days after two and a half feet of snow fell.
Civil Aviation Authority Simikot branch office manager Mohan Giri informed that the flight from Nepalgunj and Surkhet could not be operated for four days due to the snowfall. It is said that there will be up to 15 flights daily at the airport.
