Chhumchaur of Patarasi Rural Municipality in Jumla district has been listed as a new tourist destination.
Situated 2,850 metres above sea level, the rural village of the mountainous district has made it to one of 200 tourist destinations across the country made public by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
The Ministry aims to implement the infrastructure development project at 200 local levels to develop the tourist destinations within up to three years including Chhumchaur, it has been said.
Marsi rice species produced in the area and paddy field would be protected, said the Ministry.
For the implementation of the project, the respective rural municipality would allocate Rs 6 million and the Ministry Rs 14 million.
The rural municipality has made a detailed project report worth approximately Rs 80 million for the conservation and protection of the paddy field in the villages, said the chief administrative officer Tek Bahadur Budthapa.
