With rising COVID infection, the Nepalese Embassy in Malaysia has requested all Nepalese workers in the country to adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines set by the Malaysian Government on high alert. Similarly, it has also requested the unvaccinated workers to get their vaccinations.

Keeping the Malaysian Government's high alert regulations in mind, the embassy has also directed only clients to visit the embassy to reduce the numbers in the generally crowded premises.

Recently, the passport renewal service has also been suspended in the embassy unless for urgent cases. With the embassy also soon looking to bring in equipment necessary for the e-passport.

Second Secretary of the Nepalese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Yasu Basnet also mentioned the Nepalese workers now being able to go on vacation with due process. Workers who decide to come back to Nepal for a vacation must quarantine in a hotel for 14 days and must also have 2 jabs of the vaccine. However, no decision has been made yet on those without vaccinations and their quarantine status.

In certain cases, companies in Malaysia haven't at time allowed the workers who had COVID come back to Nepal, however upon registration of complaints into the embassy regarding such matters, the embassy deals with all necessary paperwork to facilitate the service.

About the concerns and talks amongst workers for an increase in compensation for the workers, the embassy reiterated that it had not received any further information on the topic. Currently the Malaysian Government isn't accepting any more workers into the nation, the embassy stated that the situation is subject to change depending on the Malaysian Government's decision.
