Prez meets Tenzing and Hilary's family

President Ram Chandra Paudel has pointed out the need to protect the mountains and mountainous areas to secure the future of the earth, human, and animal world.

In the context of reaching the 70th year of climbing the world's highest peak Mount Everest; he expressed this opinion in a meeting with officials of the Himalayan Trust UK along with the families of the first Everest climbers Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa at Sheetal Niwas.

On this occasion, President Paudel said that it is necessary to minimize the effects of climate change worldwide and protect the mountains, mountain areas, and biological diversity for the benefit of the earth and all mankind.

"Protection of the world's environment should start from the mountains because the main source of water is the mountains", he said. He mentioned that the government of Nepal has emphasized the protection of the Himalayan region and environment in its policies and programs.

He said that the world community should work together to protect the biodiversity of Mount Everest and the region.
