'Trade, investment key pillars of Nepal-China relations'

National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has said that trade and investment between Nepal and China existing since historical time is the fundamental pillar of our bilateral ties.

Chairman Timilsina stated that with the opening of three trade and transit points along the Nepal-China borders would help promote trade and investment that suffered badly in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing the 5th China Tibet Tourism and Cultural Expo in Lhasa of Tibet, Timilsina said that Korola point in the Nepal-China border should brought into operation soon added that the a travel to Mansarovar would be fast and accessible since construction of the Kaligandaki corridor that links Tibet in north and India in the south is about to complete.

On the occasion, he said that Nepal was expecting Chinese government's assistance for the infrastructure development in the customs point in Korola since Nepal is yet to commence the construction job there.

In his address to the Expo, the NA Chairman committed that Nepal's land would not be used against China's sovereignty and Nepal is committed to one-China policy.

Likewise, Timilsina sought for China's cooperation to conduct direct flights to Lhasa from Kathmandu, Pokhara and Bhairahawa and facilitation on travel permission to Kailash Mansarovar since that would ensure increased touristic activities in both the countries.

Leading a nine-member parliamentary delegation, Chairman Timilsina is on an official visit to China at the invitation of the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China Zhao Leji.

The parliamentary delegation of Nepal included Jiban Pariyar, Dhawal Shumsher JB Rana, Dipa Gurung, Hariram Chaudhari, Pradeep Yadav and Udaya Bahadur Bohara.
