The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Office has planned to build a hospital with special treatment services for senior citizens. The 100-bed hospital will be named Kathmandu Metropolitan Special Hospital.
While announcing the policies and programmes for the next fiscal year 2078/79 today, Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya mentioned the metropolitan office’s plan to build the hospital. He also said that the metropolitan office will provide assistance to residents of the valley who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic on need basis.
The policies and programmes have also stated that the local government will continuously observe the health status of patients infected with the coronavirus and provide call centre service, psychosocial counselling, and telemedicine service. The metropolitan office will also provide COVID-19 testing service, and ambulance, isolation, COVID special hospital and oxygen support services. The policies and programmes have stated that these services will be provided free of cost.
The metropolitan office has also said that the Urban Health Clinics being run in the wards will also be upgraded and free health services through specialist doctors will be provided.
