Police on Monday arrested a man who had been convicted of banking offences and had been absconding from Bijulibazar in Kathmandu district.

The accused has been identified as Shishir Shumsher Jabra (50), a resident of Kupondole in Lalitpur district.

Patan High Court had convicted him of banking offences and fined him Rs 45 lakh along with a sentence of 10 days imprisonment on January 10.

Jabra had given a cheque of Nabil Bank worth Rs 4.5 million to the victim but there were insufficient funds in the account.

Security personnel deployed from the Maharajgunj-based Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) nabbed the accused from Bijulibazar.

Jabra has been submitted to Lalitpur District Court to implement the decision, informed CIB.
