The Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh, UAE hosted a reception ahead of the Constitution Day and National Day of Nepal to celebrate these two important occasions of Nepal.
The Constitution Day is observed on Asoj 3 of Nepali calendar every year to commemorate the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal. The county got the constitution on September 20, 2015 (Asoj 3, 2072BS).
At the reception held at the Culture Palace in Diplomatic Quarters in Riyadh on Friday, Nepali Ambassador to UAE Navaraj Subedi, extended his warm greetings and best wishes to all Nepalis in the Saudi Arabia as well as Saudi friends of Nepal.
During the welcome speech, the Ambassador paid homage to the known and unknown martyrs for their significant sacrifices for the sake of democracy, a republican state and protection and promotion of human rights in Nepal, according to the press statement released by the Nepali Embassy in Riyadh.
Highlighting the salient features of the Nepal's constitution, Ambassador Subedi said that the new constitution introduced mixed parliamentary electoral systems, First-Past-The-Post and Proportional Representation, and guaranteed equal rights and representations for all communities, ethnicities and genders, thereby paving a way for economic development and prosperity.
Nepal and Saudi Arabia enjoy excellent bilateral relations marked by cordiality, friendship and cooperation, he said, highlighting the importance to further expand and diversify the bilateral relations between the two countries for mutual benefits, the press release stated.
On the occasion, the Nepali Envoy expressed his gratitude to the government of Saudi Arabia for their continued support and felicitation for well-being of Nepali citizens in the UAE.
Nearly four hundred thousand Nepalis are currently working under foreign employment in the UAE at present, according to the Nepali Embassy in Riyadh.
The Envoy also expressed his gratitude towards the government of Saudi Arabia for assistance in evacuating Nepalis nationals stranded in Sudan.
On a different note, he applauded the development initiatives, economic reforms and social welfare schemes adopted by the government of Saudi Arabia as a Saudi Vision 2030.
Underlining the prospects of tourism, investment and trade between the two countries, Ambassador Subedi encouraged the tourism entrepreneurs and business organizations in Saudi Arabia to explore and consider foreign investment opportunities in Nepal. He shared that the government of Nepal was actively implementing liberal trade policies, reducing tariffs, simplifying tax regimes and focusing on development and expansion of trade-related infrastructures.
In the event graced by Saudi Arabian Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf Al Muqrin, mayor of the Riyadh province and high-ranking officials of the Saudi Arabian government were also present.
Also, the reception was attended by Heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia, representatives of international organizations, business community, media and Nepali community there.
