Newly-appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar has pledged to further improve police service by continuing with the plans the police headquarters has put forward earlier.

At a farewell to the outgoing IGP Dhirajpratap Singh and other senior police officials at the police headquarters today, Kunwar expressed his confidence that he would provide leadership to materialize remaining planned works and comply with the guidelines provided by seniors to keep up the institutional image.

Retiring IGP Singh said Nepal Police was successful in peacefully concluding all elections during his tenure and applauded the support and contributions made by police personnel to make it happen. He expressed his belief that the new leadership would materialize the plan of also sending police personnel to peacekeeping mission and accomplish the backlog of works.

Singh along with nine other senior police officials are retiring from the service tonight. Newly-appointed IGP Kunwar is to take the charge from Saturday.
