The NTC Clean-Up Premier League, a cleaning campaign, has kicked off from today.

Mainadevi Foundation spearheaded the campaign marking the Earth Day today under which campaigners cleaned up the premises of the Nepal Telecom's office at Bhadrakali Plaza to Bhadrakali Mandir in Kathmandu.

The campaign, which aims to engage youths for a clean environment, will run through June 5, the World Environment Day.

Participants in today's clean-up drive carried placard reading slogans such as 'Let's eliminate pollution, Save environment', "Let's educate all citizens, Let's pay attention to clean-up drive', 'Clean environment, clean life' etc.

Foundation's President KP Khanal shared that they aspire to encourage youths for maintaining cleanliness. "The way youths are attracted to sports, we want to attract them to cleanliness," Khanal said.

Students of 15 colleges will clean up public places and heritage sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Swoyambhunath Temple, Basantapur Durbar Area and Bouddha among others during the campaign, it was shared.

The team carrying out best clean-up activities will be rewarded with a cash prize. The first team will receive Rs 100,000, second will get Rs 50,000 and third Rs 25,000.

Once the campaign is conducted within the Kathmandu Valley, it will be extended nationwide, said Khanal.
