The police have arrested a woman who had been absconding after she was asked to pay a penalty of Rs 10 lakh. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested 45-year-old Nita Bhandari of Budhanilkantha, who had been convicted of banking offences by Patan High Court, from Budhanilkantha today.
According to SP Shyam Kumar Mahato, Spokesperson of CIB, the Patan High Court had convicted Bhandari of banking offences on April 19. The court had sentenced her to four days imprisonment and fined her Rs 10 lakh after which she had absconded, he shared.
Bhandari had provided a cheque of Muktinath Bikash Bank to the victim. However, her account did not have sufficient funds. The police informed that Bhandari has been submitted before the Kathmandu District Court today itself for necessary action.
