Demand for restoration of area administration

Locals are facing difficulties due to the non-rehabilitation of the Area Administration Office in Narainapur Municipality of Banke. The Area Administration Office in Narainapur Gaonpalika-4 was relocated to Nepalgunj in 2072 BS due to insecurity. Although the village government office has been established as a local government since then, the area administration office has not been re-established yet.

 According to Sohan Lal Yadav, a local, the people of Narainapur have been deprived of services such as obtaining citizenship certificate easily due to lack of area administration office. He mentioned that people have to come to Nepalgunj, the district headquarters, to get citizenship. He said that due to lack of area administration, especially the elderly and persons with disabilities could not move to Nepalgunj and were deprived of social security allowances and other services provided by the state.

 Residents of Narainapur have handed over 5,000 signatures to Chief District Officer Surya Bahadur Khatri demanding restoration of Area Administration Office Narainapur. Chief District Officer Khatri said that the people of Narainapur have submitted a memorandum to rehabilitate the Area Administration Office in Narainapur and make arrangements for providing services including a Nepali citizenship certificate in a simple and easy way.

 He said that the Area Administration Office in Narainapur would be set up soon as the Home Ministry has already demanded staff for its rehabilitation. "There is no one to sign the citizenship as the head of the office has been appointed. We have already made a demand to the home ministry," he said.

 Narainapur, which is about 44 kilometres away from the district headquarters Nepalgunj, is considered to be a remote area of ​​Banke. Road and electricity services have reached there only a year and a half ago.
