The Department of Water and Meteorology has stated that it will facilitate the in-flight weather forecasting of domestic flights. The department has stated that it will accept the decision of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to conduct 'input forecast' of domestic flights.
The authority had decided not to allow domestic flights to take off and land at the airport until the weather is favorable. The Department of Water and Meteorology was requested to facilitate weather information by implementing this decision.
Bibhuti Pokharel, information officer of the department, said that the department is ready to facilitate as much as possible with the resources and manpower as per the request of NEA. "We are here to facilitate services. We manage weather information to the best of our ability and technology. We are equally serious about air safety. We are committed to providing weather information as far as technology and manpower are concerned," said Pokharel.
The Meteorological Department has been providing weather information and input forecast for international flights under the Air Weather Service.
