Plane Crash: Bodies of foreign nationals and crew members sent to Kathmandu

The bodies of foreign nationals and crew members will be sent to Kathmandu as reported. Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences is going to send the bodies foreign nationals and crew members. The director of the institute, Dr Bharat Bahadur Khatri, informed that the dead bodies of foreign nationals, crew members and non-relatives whose identities could not be revealed will be sent to Kathmandu. In addition, he said that an autopsy will be done in Pokhara.

Director Khatri informed that this decision was taken at a meeting held this morning at the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences in the presence of heads of relevant agencies and members of the House of Representatives to facilitate the identification, management and post-mortem of the bodies of those who died in the plane crash of Yeti Airlines in Pokhara on Sunday.

The meeting formed a National Autopsy Committee in Pokhara with five members forensic expert doctors. The committee has decided to request the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Population to make the post-mortem process orderly and dignified according to international standards.

Likewise, the meeting decided to proceed with the autopsy process at the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences after the formation of the National Autopsy Committee for the bodies that have been fully identified.

He said that unidentified bodies, foreign nationals, crew members and those who want to be taken to Kathmandu will be sent to Kathmandu for autopsy after completing the legal process.

Similarly, the meeting also decided to request other hospitals and medical colleges in Pokhara for the management of dead bodies only in the mortuary available in the institution.
