District Police Office Baglung has arrested two people, including a police constable, on the charge of abducting a girl child. The police today arrested police constable Shankar Acharya and 36-year-old Bhagwati Chhetri of Jaimini Municipality-7 for attempting to abduct Sapna Thapa's six-year-old daughter Suhana Tamang, who lives in Ramrekha, Baglung Municipality-1, Dhading.
Police constable Acharya and the woman took Suhana, who was in Hallan Chowk, Baglung Municipality Ward No. 2, to Buddha Vihar by force. Locals and police stopped them. Eyewitness Rudra Mahat said that Acharya and KC, who were in police custody, insulted the locals who reached the place where the girl was. Sapna Thapa, the girl's mother, said that citizens are not protected by the police. He said that while he was in the office and his husband went to buy vegetables, the police and the woman tried to kidnap their daughter.
After the police arrested the two people and took them to the district police office, a large number of locals attended the police office at night. They have demanded strict action against both of them. Indra Bahadur Rana, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Baglung, said that an investigation has been started on whether or not there was abuse and that the policemen who consumed alcohol will also be prosecuted.
