President Bidya Devi Bhandari has directed the concerned stakeholders to intensify the construction of roads linking China and India.

Inaugurating the Tuki exhibition programme organised here Thursday, President Bhandari said the construction of roads linking the neighbours must not be delayed. Nearly 1,100 metre road from Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project to its dam was constructed, but a 12 kilometre road was yet to be constructed. So, it must be intensified, she stressed.

She also reminded that although an announcement was made to set up a film city of international standard in Dolakha, there were no works at all to this regard. President Bhandari expressed worry over the indifference.

Before inaugurating the programme, President Bhandari visited the Bhimeshwor Mahadev Temple in the district.

The Tuki concept was forwarded to elevate the lifestyle of rural farmers 45 years back.

The teachers here were provided training for commercial farming. The initiative has been continued since then, according to Executive Director of Tuki, Purushartha Shrestha.

Shrestha informed that numerous development works were carried out in the district with the initiative of Tuki. It has maintained utmost transparency in its works, he added.
