Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, and Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Nepal, Saad Nasser Abdullah Abu Haimed, held a meeting on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the two touched on issues concerning infrastructure development and bilateral partnership in development projects.
Terming Saudi Arabia as one of the major employment destinations for Nepali, the Minister proposed for Saudi Arabia's partnership in Nepali infrastructure and transport sector as well. On the occasion, he said around 400 thousand are currently engaged in the labour market in Saudi Arabia.
" Nepal is being graduated from the category of the least developed country by 2026," the Minister informed the Saudi Arabia envoy, insisting on further investment and bilateral cooperation in Nepal's infrastructure industry for the sustainability of such graduation.
In response, the Saudi Arabia ambassador said they were ready to cooperate with Nepal in the infrastructure and transport sector, requesting Nepal for presenting a substantive proposal towards that end.
During the meeting, the Minister told the ambassador that Nepal had already decided to support Saudi Arabia's candidature for hosting World Expo- 2030.
